THE LEAGUE: It was a League decision this season to not reveal team Penalty Minutes in the standings. The League expanded to 12 teams; Creston Valley joined and was added to the Neil Murdoch Division. Finally, the League instituted OTL. One point was to be awarded for an overtime loss.

THE 2000-2001 GRIZZLIES had an extraordinary season and went to the League Finals for the third time in this their eighth year in the KIJHL.

-Two Grizzlies from last season (1999-2000), Jason Misewich and Jason Robinson went to the BCHL. Jason Robinson started this season with the Merritt Centennials, playing on the same line with Jeff Pont, ex of the 98/99 Grizzlies.

-The 2000-01 Grizzlies had eleven returning veterans, which included the affable Tanner Murray, back as the team Captain for the second time.

-Another 50 goal scorer. Paul Girodat became the second Grizzlie to have a 50 goal season, joining Damian Fraser from the 97/98 season. Girodat scored his 50th goal in the Forum against Golden during the last regular game of the season, Sunday afternoon, the 25th of February 2001. It was in this game that Paul Girodat scored two 1st period goals: his 49th a power-play marker which was followed by his 50th goal, setup by line-mates Keith Mitchell and Croft Kurka. Girodat was selected as the games 1st star in the Grizzlies 12 to 5 victory.

-The Grizzlies treated their Forum fans to an incredible home-ice campaign, losing just 2 games while registering 25 wins, 15 of which the opposition were restricted to scoring one goal. The Grizzlies 2 home losses occurred on the same weekend in mid-November to South Division teams.

-On the road the Grizzlies racked up an impressive record of 20 wins and 5 losses with 2 ties.

-Overall the Grizzlies had 1 game scoring 10 goals, 3 games scoring 11 goals and one 12 goal game. The Grizzlies were never shutout and they posted one shutout against Golden. The Grizzlies played into 4 overtime games; winning 2 with 2 remaining a tie.

-Although the Grizzlies lost in the League Championship, they had a banner season by hanging two more pennants from the Forum rafters. The Grizzlies received the EDDIE MOUNTAIN banner for finishing the regular season as the top team. From there the Grizzlies went on to win the EDDIE MOUNTAIN DIVISION in a seven game overtime thriller series against Sicamous which sent them to the League Finals.
