Bettenson, Miller & Kuchaslo named Instat KIJHL 3 Stars

 

Carter Bettenson and Jozef Kuchaslo of the Revelstoke Grizzlies and Kasey Miller of the Kimberley Dynamiters are the final Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the 2022-23 season, selected on their performances in the 2023 Cyclone Taylor Cup championship. 

Bettenson – Top Forward – The Red Deer product was named the Cyclone Taylor Cup Most Valuable Player as he led the championship with five goals and one assist in four games. Bettenson had a two-goal performance in the Grizzlies’ 4-1 win against Kimberley in their second CTC game. He had another two-goal performance, including the winner, and added an assist in their 5-2 win against Delta. In the CTC gold medal game, Bettenson scored the first goal as the Grizzlies defeated Kimberley 4-1.

Miller – Top Defenceman – The Kimberley product finished third among all defencemen in points during the CTC with one goal and three assists in four games. In their opening game against Delta, Miller helped Jake Watson set up Tristan Weill for the opening goal 17 seconds into the game. Against Oceanside, Miller assisted on the 3-2 goal, then scored the winner in a 5-3 victory. In their loss to Revelstoke in the gold medal game, Miller assisted on Ethan Bloomquist’s goal.

Kuchaslo – Top Goalie – The Mission, B.C. product played the most minutes of any goalie during the CTC with 200. The 6-1, 180-pound goalie won all three of his starts and had a 1.80 GAA and a .935 SP. After stopping 21 shots for his first win against Kimberley in their second game, Kuchaslo stopped 36 of 38 against Delta and 26 of 27 against Kimberley in the gold medal game.
