Haggerty, O’Neill & Hager selected as KIJHL 3 Stars

Taylor Haggerty (Fernie Ghostriders), Liam O’Neill (Revelstoke Grizzlies) and Josh Hager (Kimberley Dynamiters) have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Feb.9/25.

Haggerty – Top Forward – The Sherwood Park, Alta., native scored five goals and added three assists in three games for the Ghostriders. In their 2-0 win over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Feb. 4, Haggerty scored the insurance goal. In their 4-3 overtime loss to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Feb.7, Haggerty scored twice and collected an assist. And in their 5-3 win over the Golden Rockets on Feb. 8, the 6-0, 155-pound forward had two goals, including the winner, and two assists. Haggerty leads the Ghostriders with 58 points in 39 games, which ranks him third in the KIJHL. Haggerty recorded his 160 career KIJHL point in the win over Golden. 

 

 

O’Neill – Top Defenceman – The Calgary native had two goals and two assists in three games for the Grizzlies and was plus seven while playing an average of 17:28 a game. In an 8-3 win over the Kelowna Chiefs on Feb. 5, O’Neill collected two assists. In their 2-0 win over the Sicamous Eagles on Feb. 7, O’Neill scored the winner, which was also his first KIJHL goal. Then on Feb.8 in a 5-2 win over the Chase Heat, O’Neill opened the scoring again. The 6-0, 170-pound rookie has two goals and nine points in 25 games this season.

Hager – Top Goalie – The Calgary native collected his second shutout of the season for the Dynamiters in a 4-0 win over the Columbia Valley Rockies on Feb.7. He made 11 of his 25 saves in the first period. Hager is 7-0 for the Dynamiters with a 1.67 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. For the season, he is 9-6-0 between the Dynamiters and Quesnel River Rush with a 3.21 GAA and a .901 SP.
