KIJHL 3 Stars of the Month: January

 

Brandon Kasdorf of the Revelstoke Grizzlies, Ethan Floris of the Osoyoos Coyotes and Scott Thompson of the Columbia Valley Rockies are the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Month for January.

Kasdorf – Top Forward – Opponents couldn’t keep the Rosemary, Alberta product off the scoresheet. Kasdorf, the leading point producer for the Grizzlies, had six goals and 19 points in 10 games, helping his team win nine games, including a game-winner, and had the first goal three times. He opened the month with a goal and four-point effort against the Sicamous Eagles on Jan. 4. He enjoyed a three-point performance against the Kamloops Storm on Jan. 14 and he had four two-point nights. Kasdorf leads the Grizzlies with 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points in 24 games. Kasdorf was named the Top Forward for the KIJHL’s 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 9.

Floris – Top Defenceman – The Vanderhoof, B.C. product helped the Coyotes win seven games. Floris had three goals and seven assists for 10 points in nine games, with two goals on the power-play. He enjoyed a four-assist night against the North Okanagan Knights on Jan. 26 and was named the Top Defenceman for the KIJHL’s of the 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 16. Floris is second on the Coyotes in points among defencemen with 25 in 35 games.

Thompson – Top Goalie – The Winnipeg, Manitoba native won all five of his starts for the Rockies, and earned a victory in 20 minutes of action when he stopped all 12 shots faced against the Golden Rockets on Jan. 12. Thompson turned aside 166 of 174 shots for a .953 SP and a 1.50 GAA. On Jan. 7 against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, Thompson turned aside 40 of 41 shots in a 4-1 win. Thompson, named the Top Goalie for the KIJHL’s 3 Stars of the Week, period ending Jan. 30, has 11 wins in 13 games, with a .922 SP and a 2.37 GAA.
