KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 5 (Oct.23)

 

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its fifth week of regular season action for the 2022-23 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide after.

The Revelstoke Grizzlies keep their top spot in the Power Rankings. They lost their first game in regulation time against the Sicamous Eagles on Oct. 18, then returned to their winning ways against the Princeton Posse in a shootout and the Kamloops Storm. Rookie Liam Fitzgerald led the team with four points.
The Princeton Posse climbed from fourth to second. They played two games last weekend, defeating the Summerland Steam, then losing to the Grizzlies. Sean Mitchell led the Posse with four points in two games.
The Osoyoos Coyotes join the top-five with a pair of wins during the week. They earned a 7-2 win over North Okanagan thanks to a four-goal performance by Coletyn Boyarski. They defeated the Summerland Steam 4-2 on Sunday.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins had a busy week last week, playing four times. They won all four, including an OT finish against the Nelson Leafs and topping Kamloops in a shootout. Jonah Smith led the team with four goals, while defenceman Ben Edwards and forward Spencer Horning each had seven points.
The Kimberley Dynamiters went from second to fifth as they lost both games they played last week.  The Dynamiters were edged 3-2 by Creston Valley, then lost a 2-1 shootout decision to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
