Liam Noble of the Nelson Leafs, as well as Kaleb West and Brandon Weare of the Revelstoke Grizzlies have been named the Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending April 3.
Noble – Top Forward – The Dawson Creek native had two goals and three assists in the final three games of the Teck Cup Championship. In Game 3, he assisted on Bryden Pow’s game-winning goal. In the Game 4, 4-3 triple overtime loss, he had a goal and an assist. His goal on the power-play tied the game at two. In Game 5, a 6-4 win by Revelstoke, Noble had another goal and assist. His eighth of the playoffs gave the Leafs a 1-0 lead, while he assisted on Simon Nemethy’s goal to give the Leafs a 3-2 lead. In 24 playoff games, Noble finished with eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points, ranking him third overall in points.
West – Top Defenceman – The St. Albert, Alberta native had three goals and an assist in three games. In Game 4, West opened the scoring on the power-play and added an assist on Brandon Kasdorf’s power-play goal to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead. In Game 5, West scored twice on the power-play to even the score at one and three. West finished the playoffs with four goals and three assists for seven points in 19 games.
Weare – Top Goalie – In the final three games of the Teck Cup Championship, the Calgary native made 93 saves on 102 shots, earning a win to go with a .912 SP and a 2.52 GAA. In Game 3, he made 23 saves on 25 shots in a 2-1 loss. In Game 4, Weare made 49 saves in 115:35 of triple overtime action to give them a 4-3 win and a 3-1 series lead. In Game 5, the KIJHL MVP made 21 saves on 25 shots in 40 minutes of action. Weare finished the playoffs with 14 wins in 18 games with a stellar 1.53 GAA and a .947 SP. He led all goalies in those three categories.
